Wrong

After > 6 months and finding 220 caches, one should think that one doesn’t make stupid mistakes anymore. Well, I’m wrong about that.

I decided yesterday to tackle another notorious 5 * caches by hh1: De snelste weg GCHG1Y. This took me a very long time to have a proper indication off the location of this cache. As said before,  I’m not a genius when it comes to maths (if any). Consulting a book for dummies and more gifted people didn’t any solace either. My experiments on the drawing board weren’t successful either. I could luckily depend on more talented people on that too. I headed yesterday to the assumed place and didn’t find anything. I didn’t recognize any of the identifying marks nor the pictures taken. I realised only after a while that I took the wrong road at a junction. When I decided to go for the other path, I immediately recognised a mark and find the stash. What a relief.

After that, I headed for Waterman GCGZC0 at the other side of the wood. It didn’t start well. I couldn’t find anything of the described properties of WP1. It took me a while to realize that I started with the initial coordinates transferred via the gc.com site. Since it was a mystery/puzzle cache, they were of course bogus. I wrongly assumed that it were the coordinates as described in the stash description. After entering the correct coordinates and a short walk, I immediately recognize the hint for WP1 but didn’t find the waypoint itself. Due to the deviation and the fact I still follow the pointer blindly, I must have skirted round it. Once retrieved the required information, I could easily find the cache and open it. These special and unique containers by piloot are always pleasant to discover and to open. What I found inside the container casted a shadow over the party though: a box with decayed raisins. Putting food as trade isn’t a good idea to me. As proven, it rots due to the damp in the container. Who would benefits from it anyway? Even it was still edible, I would (let) eat from it.

The girls went to the in-laws for Mothers day and I volunteered to stay at home in order to drop the son at the scoots. So I had to change to sweep a region with caches in the neighbourhood:

  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 22: Oude Spoorlijn 30 GC1B10N
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 25: Hoeve Craenenburgh GC1BFN9
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 7: Station van Zichem GC1AXMW
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 9: Huize Ernest Claes GC1AX58
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 31: Wildendriesdijk GC1AX5F
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 2: Watermolen GC1B111
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 14: Sint-Michielskerk GC1B104
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 17: SNAK GC1AX4Z

In order to celebrate finds 200 and 225 and wanted to pick a special cache. This time it’s Weit draussen GCGXJF, a virtual one can’t check locally and even it’s allowed, you never can’t find the answer to the question.
