Wodanza day
Today was Wodanza day. In preperation to the WWFM IV Leuven (Flashing the Bug) event GC1HJ24, I decided to tackle a few caches authored by him in order to learn more about him. You know a geocacher by his stashes. If that saying doesn’t exist yet, it must be invented
Anyway, Leuven has about 74 public playgrounds and Wodanza has placed a couple of traditionals in them. All exist independently, but together they yield up the secret to another one.
So I’ve outlined 2 of them with an extra in standby in case things go very well.
The first one was N – Michotte Park GC174B8. It took a while to reach it, because it’s located near one-way traffic roads and there was a lot of traffic this Saturday afternoon. But we managed to get there after all. While my wife and daughter went to the swings, etc. I started looking. A cat found this very interesting and decided to join me. After the obliged leg rubbing and the caresses on his/her head as far as I am concerned, the cat decided to call it a day after 10 minutes and I could start to search more focused. I found the stash rather easy. It was hidden very cleverly.
So we went to the second playground annex cache: E – Albert Dejonghe Speelplein GC174B5. This one was a lot more crowdy. Besides some regulars, some scouting group was there too. That made things a bit more complicated to search unnoticed. Certainly when I was looking at the wrong things. Without revealing things, it was disguised in a way I didn’t see yet in my early geocaching career. Another ingenious stash by Wodanza.
Back home for some food and then back on the road again towards WWFM IV Leuven (Flashing the Bug) event GC1HJ24, my first geocaching event. A strange phenomena, such a flash mob. Nobody to see before 7 PM and at 7 a bunch of people appear, all starting to take pictures. Wodanza started handing out log sheets and we logged the event.
And then it was time to meet people whilst Wodanza gave us jevener as a bracer. Meanwhile I could finally could put a face on names like Freggie, Kris&An, De Elfjes , pépécoke, Marc B, etc.
7:15 PM. It seemed that the event came to an end (way to early). Blahma surprised us with a traditional he just published: Pater Damiaancache GC1HYE1. We couldn’t leave this undiscovered and so the troops went for it. During the walk I had a nice chat with De Elfjes and pépécoke. Kris&An where the first to discover it. It wasn’t a FTF though. It can go very fast in the geocaching units of time!
