The Power of Coincidence

I’ve never met so many people on a non event cache as yesterday. A lot of people seem to have had the same idea at the same time.

But before that Dinti and I went some cache sweeping in the morning. The girls wanted to go for a swim and my son preferred to join me. It was some nice weather and Dinti seemed to be in the mood since he found most of the caches, even before I could look at the GPSr in order to see which direction we should look at.

In no time we gathered the following caches and headed home to grab some food:

After dinner and a cone from the ice cream car, the family headed to Langdorp for the newly published De Bosberg by Datuli (GC27AGJ). When we arrived we already saw two teams leaving and another two teams at WP1. The Untouchables were leaving but SAILtm still needed to start, so we joined them. Since Dinti and his sister were fighting for the GPSr, SAILtm borrowed their unit in order that both could walk in front. This multi is a typical family cache; it’s not too long, the WPs are relatively easy to find and no calculations are needed. At the end we found the nice big container, were I could drop a bag full of TBs and GCs. It was the result of the items collected the last month. I usually drop them in my TB hotel, but since it was muggled I needed to find another solution to make them move again. This container was perfect for this.

Today, I had an unexpected encounter. When I went to the kitchen at the office, I heard: ‘Hey Searchjaunt!’. I couldn’t put a name on the face, but it happened to be Datuli, the owner of the cache described in the previous paragraph. I knew he worked also at the university, since he mailed me last week that he found that out. I wasn’t aware of that but, looking at the number of employees of the university (and its hospital), the chance is indeed rather high that a couple of them are geocachers. Datuli works at another department (and location) and he needed to be at our premises for a course.

Having said this, I liked to meet Datuli (and all the other cachers this WE) IRL and chat with him. Maybe we’ll join forces to tackle some caches some day. Already looking forward to it.
