The needle
Geocaching is sometimes searching for a needle. Well I found it and got trough the eye of it.
I must have some guardian angel somewhere, since I’m still able to blog. But it could end up otherwise.
It all started yesterday morning, when I needed to bring my daughter and her friend to a birthday party. Since it wasn’t that close home, I decided to do some geocaching until I needed I needed to pick them up again. Despite the wind and rain, I was able to log these caches:

- Kasteel van Ordingen by Gertels (GC23GJH)
When we arrived back home, I grabbed some food and headed for a cache one asked me to trial run. I never arrived at the cache though. I was halfway and needed to stop for a traffic light. Not even a minute later I hear a groaning/cracking sound and within a second some big bang on my car. When I managed to crawl out of the car, I saw that a huge tree was fallen on my car and that tree swept a concrete electricity pole along. That pole seems the have ended up also on my car too, barely a meter from where I was seated. Apart from a few cuts due to the glass, I don’t have any physical damage – apart from the headache due to a sleepless night – but there is a lot of other damage. The car is a total loss and it’s a whole business in order to get the paper work done in order to get some new cache vehicle.

Tja, nobele onbekende. Van storm was er niet echt sprake. Het waaide enkel wat feller dan anders.

Amaai, da scheelde nie veel.
Gelukkig kwam je er zelf zo goed als ongeschonden uit, de materiele schade is vervelend, maar allemaal relatief.

Wow!!! Eddy, man, wat hebt gij chance gehad!!
Ik moet het waarschijnlijk niet meer zeggen, maar als die paal meer in het midden van de auto was, dan konden we je naar een graveyard brengen…
Gelukkig is het enkel materiele schade! Enfin dat hoop ik toch…tis niet omdat je uit je auto moet kruipen dat je zelf niets hebt…
Veel sterkte met het verwerken van deze belevenis!

Jawatte … Vanmorgen belde m’n broer “JorenP” me uit m’n bed met het nieuws over je accident. Ik was meteen goed wakker ! Afin, ‘k ben blij dat je er (zo goed als) ongeschonden uitgekomen bent.

OMG I’m so glad you are okay! That looks absolutely terrifying. A few more feet and that could have been disastrous.

That looks bad. But the main thing is that you are not hurt. And you did not have the girls in the car so they are safe too.
The car will get replaced eventually.
