‘shun!
This weekend was full of geocaching extravaganza. It started with the “Het Teken”-pUZL GC1M57T, a puzzle cache rather near work, but one I couldn’t make head or tail of it. Whatever I did, Evince didn’t give me a green light on the coordinates. I am certainly not so good in solving mystery/puzzle caches, but I see in the logs that I’m not the only one having problems with that one. So I decided also to use another method and after several attempts I could finally log it on Friday. This is certainly worth its 4 * difficulty.
Yesterday, I attended the “WW6 event” GC1JA9M. I joined the “De Bosklappers” platoon to attack this one.

It’s my first all day event and I didn’t know what the expect. It started rather well. Nature called me urgently and while this was happening I saw the solution for “Het WW cachke 6 : De langste geo-dag” GC1MR95. In fact it was the only logable cache (apart from the event). The rest were a series of tasks, comparable with a multi, 8 in total, with an extra bonus. Since it was on military domain – which we were exceptionally were allowed to enter – all were in a military theme. The search hunt wasn’t easy at all, there were a lot of tricky questions and task where one needed to use all the geocaching experience one has. We were a bit slow and only 2 combat could be finalised whereas the platoons on the roll of honours had all 3 combats accomplished. We did better on the night assignment where we needed to determine the (fictional) place where three countries meet. We ended 3th, with only a deviation of 10 meters whereas the winners had a deviation of 7 meters (including bonus meters one could earn during the day).

It’s clear that this event is well organized and a lot of effort was put into this. A pity that – due to the nature of the location – that the can’t last as logable caches, which others can enjoy.
This morning it was raining cats and dogs today, but luckily it was nice weather in the afternoon. I was stilled tired and the wife wanted to buy some shoes for the daughter, so I joined them. After that, I could log “Carpoolcache” GC1NAG8. You’ll never guess where the cache was hidden.
