Late Sunrise
It has been a week full of pottering around. As mentioned in a previous blog, I started with paperless caching. I finally got used of this (somewhat tedious, compared to simply printing out stuff) way of working, so I though it would be time to do put the spoiler pics on my Z22 too.
It seems that the only software to do this isn’t really allowed by the terms of use of the GC site. The only way that one turns a blind eye to it seems the interval between each picture gets downloaded or better said, one can’t make the difference between that software and a human. Whatever method you choose (software or manual), it’ll be a lengthy and tedious way of getting the pics for your selection of caches.
Once you got the pictures, you need to convert everything into HTML and get it to the Z22. The latter is another pain in the ass. There doesn’t seem to exist a decent browser available. Opera doesn’t seem to work on it. Another proof that Palm isn’t what it used to be and that I bought a (more dead than alive) pig in a poke. I guess that I need to learn to live with it until my 60Cx gives up the ghost and I can buy a combine device. So no browser thus and we need to look at Plucker again. At first it seems to work fine, but when I open the book, all pics are in black and white (no grayscale). Not very useful. My attempt to set things in colour ends up in a hanging Hotsync. I read somewhere in a forum thread that Sunrise could work, so I tried it out. My first installation attempt resulted in a lot of errors. So I needed to find a version that worked on my machine. This is easier said than done, since Sunrise seems to be at a dead end too. Great! After x attempts and several hours later, I could finally view some spoiler pics in a somewhat decent manner. This means that’s in colour, but the resolution reminds me at my pre CGA days on a PC. If I recall wel, a ZX spectrum or a Vic 20 had similar resolution.
Again, by faute de mieux we need to work with this. So went after work for a tryout and tackled the two remaining playground caches by Wodanza:
- E – Vredeplein GC174AN where the spoiler pic came in very handy
- H – ToekomstPad GC174AR where only some experience with the MO of Wodanza was useful
Having said this, I like to thanke Wodanza for this beatiful series.
