Groen Lubbeek – Laure’s geboortecache
Today was my inauguration and I wanted to find my first cache on my own. My son went to the scouts, thus I took my wife and daughter with me to discover Groen Lubbeek – Laure’s geboortecache GC1B47T. The weather wasn’t promising but when we started, the sun popped up between the clouds.
This cache is based on photos where tags are hidden. My first mistake was that these photos were in the environment of the viapoints but after a while, I discover that this wasn’t the case and the photos needed to be discovered whilst walking.
Luckily I found all photos and companion tags the rather smoothly. At least that was what I thought. When I typed in the final coordinates based on the tags I’ve written down, I was rather surprised that the stash should be hidden literally in my front yard in a small park cross the road. I soon found out that this wasn’t the exact location and something went wrong with noting the tags.
So the only option was to call Freggie to find out what went wrong. He gave me the correct coordinates. I misread a tag, which was a bit dark and rusty. A torch is as must have accessory for a cache hunt. It started raining, so wife and daughter remained home and I decided to log quickly the log before I picked up my son from the scouts room. The bad weather and my inexperience did throw a spanner though and I needed to call Freggie again to help me again.
I finally found the cache, but I wasn’t verry happy about the fact that I couldn’t find it independently.
