Good riddance
I’m somewhat doing all the multi caches in the neighbourhood that remained for a long while on my to do list.
Not that these caches are minor to the others, in the contrary. I somewhat saved them up for good weather and the family. When I’m alone, I usually tackle the trads and mysteries and keep the multi for a nice walk with the family. Unfortunately, they aren’t always that dying to do this (certainly the kids) so I got a pile of multis now. I’m trying to catch up a bit.
Last Sunday, we tackled “Soms steil, soms niet.” GCQFG0 which is a nice multi in the woods. It’s a typical Allimo cache where observation is more important than calculation and infinite searching for tags etc. The only downside are the people who want to live in nature. Their idea of doing this is cutting the wood and building strapping ‘cottages’. On top the town provides all the utilities like electricity, water and roads. Not my idea of being environmental conscious or living in ‘nature’.
Anyway, earlier this week I found “’T kappeleke” GC1XMA9, a new trad in my neighbourhood. I needed 2 attempts for it. I had a lot of deviation the first time. This showed clearly that there is a difference in measurement between GPSr, even if it’s the same type. It showed on the CAROLO GEOCACHING CHALLENGE too where all the track we recorded were different.
Yesterday, I tackled ”De Bron” GCJR4E but by bike this time. My son needed to take his bike along to a birthday party, so we cycled to there and I drove on to the starting point of this multi. That resulted in already > 10 kms without doing anything caching wise. That doesn’t sound much, but it’s a lot uphill and disguised gradient. If you’re not used to bike as I do, it’s not easy at all. Add a laryngitis and you’re washed out. Anyway, this is yet a fine (a bit long) multi by Wodanza which let you show all the fine spots in the surroundings. My city bike wasn’t that suitable for all the roads which resulted in a pile-up. The damage report was a scratched hand, knee and gel saddle. The latter seems to be rather fragile since it started to leak and ruin my trousers.
I finished the WE with “Hoegaarden anders bekeken” GC12G0H which is a multi I really like. It let you show the beautiful scenery outside the beaten paths and where infinite calculation and searching is out of order, or did I say this already? Hoegaarden is much more than beer and this is exactly the cache you need in order to discover it.
