Going off-line

One of my mysteries became a bit more difficult to solve since the information needed went partially off-line.

The “In den beginne” GC1JWTJ needs some research in order to solve the problem. The information was focused on one thing that was accessible online. The site owner seems to work with previews now for some reason, probably due to copyright reasons or the information provider concluded that the online version became disruptive for the off-line version and thus loss-making. I don’t know what the underlying reason is, but people don’t seem to consult the off-line version –only one logger did – anymore, even if it’s free.

I got an e-mail the other day requesting a hint for my cache and I usually refer to the online version, not realizing that not all the info was there anymore. The same person notified me about the problem. Then comes the dilemma:

  • should I archive the cache since the online information is unavailable?
  • should I do nothing since the off-line version is consultable for free?
  • should I modify the cache in order that it can be solved with the info still available?

I choose for the latter and I hope that it becomes a bit more easy and people will log it more often.

Last Sunday, I continued my plan to sweep the neighbourhood despite last week’s debacle:

  • De Poedertoren GC1YPD5
  • De Pare GC1Y7MP
  • Parels van het Hageland 2 – O.L.V. Fatimakerk GC1M1KJ
  • Brabantia Flandrensis – 3 (Lange Beemden) GC1307C
  • Brabantia Flandrensis – 1 (Schapendries) GC13071
  • Rondje Scherp-Zichem 18: Weefberg GC1B10F

Furthermore, I will attend WWFM VI – Coulrophobia? GC1Z044, the flash mob event for Leuven. This time it’s organized by the Freggie family. I hope that a lot more people that the current 10 attendees will join me. So, if you are from our region, don’t hesitate and Freggie know that you will be there too.
