Fleetwood cache
A concert by Fleetwood Mac prevented me to do some caching.
A new cache by Freggie was launched last Wednesday: De X-sPot GC1ZGNA. This mystery – Lubbeek becomes the new midpoint of mysteries in our county – was yet another original cache. Although not that difficult, a little prod in order to solve the puzzle and have the green light. Freggie used a different geo coordinates checker this time, but more on that in a next blog.
The problem was now that I couldn’t check the cache itself. Since I didn’t solve the puzzle self-reliant, I didn’t deserve to be on the podium anyway. But the main reason was that I had to go to a concert by Fleetwood Mac. Since it was already 19 years ago that the group in this formation visited Belgium, I wanted to see them. They are a bit elderly so the chance that they’ll come back – although one is speaking about a new album – is rather little. Anyway, I selected – as usual wherever I go – some caches which I could do before and/or after the concert. I headed to the concert early anyway. That’s always the best for this venue due to it’s traffic and parking problems.
Once arrived, I headed for the first cache and half way I discovered that I forget a pen to log. When I arrived back at my car the spirits sagged and decided to leave the GPSr and enter the venue where I seek out the companionship of a concrete pillar and stairs next to my seat. One started playing only a quarter of an hour too late, so that was a bonus. The rest was less promising: the sound mix was awful. On top, one didn’t put aside their ego after all these years. Buckingham did his best in overacting which resulted in lengthy redundant guitar solos. As if we didn’t know after this years that he’s a brilliant player. At the other hand, some songs were too short and seemed to stop in the middle of it. Anyway, I headed – it was too late to seek some caches – a bit disappointed home with buzzing ears.
Geocaching wise, I didn’t do much this week. I had already logged this virtual Elijah Cornell Chase House GC117B in order to celebrate my 400th find, but today I’m stuck at 399. I did take a nice walk with Vissenaken – Sint Maarten GC1Z2WM, which is a typical Il imperiestro cache with the focus on the surroundings and not complicated calculations. I must have been distracted by the environment a bit too much since I misinterpreted the text twice and needed to call him in order to be on the right track again. When we arrived back at the car, another car was parked alongside mine. I was sure that I recognized the car but had doubts about the colours. It occurred to be the car from the Freggie family, who happened to have the same idea as us and, believe it or not, made the same mistakes as we did.
