Flashing clowns
With the fuss about my previous blog post, one almost forgets the essence of geocaching: having fun and meet (new) people.
What’s the best thing to achieve this? Attending events like the WWFM? This team the WWFM event in Leuven was organised by Freggie. The goal of WWFM VI – Coulrophobia ? (GC1Z044) was to put on a red clown nose and stroll with a cuddly toy on a leash towards ground zero. People without a clowns nose could get one in exchange for a donation to the cliniclowns project. The result of the flash mob can be seen on the pictures taken by the attendees. I picked a few pictures by Zwerkat, GeocacherQ and Sax.

The evening was still young after the event and Freggie create an after event with a FTF of a new cache as climax. In order to steer things in the right direction, he asked the members of “The Conspiracy” to lend a hand. There were several tasks to fulfil:
- find a clown who divides people in groups and give further instructions on where the challenge starts
- find the locations and numbers of caches and convert the result in Morse code
- find the coordinates of the place where something needs to be done with the Morse code
- send your Morse code to another group. That results, after some calculations, to the final location of the new cache: Leuven – Predikherenkerk (GC20DME)
- Freggie gives the start signal of the FTF run. The attendees can only log with their clowns nose on.
The jury did close watch on the fulfilment of condition and took the fair judgment that the person who had the FTF couldn’t log because of this requirement (and the STF became FTF). Things were discussed afterwards whilst grabbing a pint.
I would like to thank Freggie and all the other cachers for the nice evening.
Btw. I did some other – also important – caches too:
- Jeugdsentiment – Langs holle wegen en pachthoven by (GC17QP8)
- Wijgmaalbroek (GC1KNT7)
Both showed that there are some nice green places left near a city.
