Falling into the ditch

Today started a week holiday. The kids have no school the following week and I ‘volunteered’ to entertain them. That means that not a lot of gecaching will happen. Not that they don’t like it, but I needs to be short without a lot of hiking and in good weather conditions. Maybe I can persuade them to tackle a small multi with a cinema visit as reward.

In order to create a buffer I decided to tackle a cache yesterday already: Stijns cache GC1HC40. Although I have always difficulties with mystery caches, this one was revealed rather quickly. Once arrived, a wild rabbit let me startle. This seems to become a tradition with the Friday-evening-after-work caches.

Today, I created a mini raid of 9 caches which I hoped to discover whilst the son is going to a carnival / Mardi Gras party. All went well until I was on my way to the last cache. I took the bend rather wide on this small road in order not to damage the car, but didn’t notice the ditch at the other side of the road. The result was that my car stood on only on the front left wheel and the rear right wheel, blocking the road. That was my sheer luck, because nobody couldn’t pass through anymore and within 5 minutes, a couple of cars where at the ‘crime scene’. One needed to help me in order that they could continue their journey. After some discussion, we gave it a try and I was back on the road within minutes. Meanwhile the wife picked my son and I could tackle my last cache of the day. This is the list of caches:

  1. 4×4 Ons huisje GC1AAGJ
  2. Herk 1 GC1APKK
  3. Herk 2 GC1APNA
  4. Herk 3 GC1APNR
  5. Herk 4 GC1APNZ
  6. Herk 5 GC1APPQ
  7. 4×4 De Grot GC1AAGB
  8. 4×4 Gasthuisberg GC1AGAF
  9. Holle Wegen 3 GC19Q2Y
