ET phone home
Last Sunday, I attended the ET Event organized by Prunie.
My attendance hanged by a thread since I had a bad cold (the second one this year) since the Friday before and it hurt when I needed to rise early for the event. I survived the day, but got faced with the consequences on Monday. The doctor kept me in for 3 days. Sorry for the brief report this time, but I’m still not 100%.
Back to the event. As said, it was an early rise since the event wasn’t next door and I needed to pick up ThierryP (also having a bad cold) along the way. Since we were a bit too early, we took the opportunity to find a couple of caches in the neighborhood. Since it was an event organized by Prunie, we took caches owned by him.
Arrived at the event terrain, we were surprised by the huge amount of people attending the event. I understood that Prunie and his team were also pleasantly surprised with this attendance. Although it was my 3rd event (excluding the 2 WWFM events), it didn’t recognize anyone. But as said in earlier blog posts, I don’t meet a lot of people when I’m caching alone. And when we cache in group, the usual suspects are joining: besides ThierryP and I, GeocacherQ, Freggie (and the Mrs.) Weedboer made up a team together with Spockske and Pussinboots (whom I finally could meet IRL).
When the cache listings were handed out, we decided to tackle things in a slightly different way. Instead of following the crowd we decided to go to a specific zone and search all caches in the neighborhood. That also included caches not belonging to the event, like the Back to Basics series. This series of caches is a mild protest to the booming number of mysteries and focuses on the search on the field. I declare myself guilty on the mystery matter and I promise that the next one will be a purely field search cache. In fact, if I wasn’t ill, a mini multi would have been published by now.
Anyway, we attacked a couple of zones that way which results (for me) in a list of 25 caches that day, which is almost equal to my record of 26 on a day. The list of the caches can be found below. I want to conclude by thanking Prunie and his organizing team and the rest of my companionship for this nice day. Despite my illness, I enjoyed it very much.
