Dangerous gooses?
This week of school holiday isn’t as calm on the geocaching front as I expected. I dropped the son at a playfellow yesterday. It was a bit strange though. Normally, he doesn’t enjoy shopping at all and disappears towards the comics corner and I have always to search for him when I’ve finished shopping. Yesterday, his friend asked him if he would join a ‘trip’ to a well know Swedish furniture store. My son seems to have enjoyed it as well.
Having said, this I was alone with the daughter I needed to fetch a gift certificate from a toy store nearby. But before doing this, I could convince the daughter to do 2 short multi caches:
- Rondje Tielt-Winge – 3 : oorlog en vrede GC15DKQ where the starting point was a churchyard for the victims of the second World War of a town nearby. One needed to collect data in order to calculate the second and final waypoint
- Rondje Tielt-Winge – 1 : Houwaartse berg GC15DF2. Belgium/Flanders isn’t well known for its wine, but there are some qualitative vineyards in our neighbourhood. It took me a while to find this despite the classic conceal methods. There are a lot possible hiding places.
Discovering these two caches came with a price. I promised the daughter that she could choose a small Playmobil figure, but there wasn’t one she liked and thus we went home with one with a higher price tag. In exchange I went to my Sterreborne cache GC1MNVT in order to check the coordinates. Loggers said there was some deviation despite the fact that the original coordinates were the result of two observations of an average of 250 measurements.
I’ve now all the details for the solve the final of that series: Rondje Tielt-Winge – 5 : Gempemolen GC15DMB and I couldn’t resist to find it. So I picked up the son and we went for it. In my rush I forgot to look at the spoiler picture with the result that I was looking in the wrong place at first.
Today, I needed to do some administrative tasks in the city nearby and I lugged the kids with me and of course I tackled some caches:
- Te land te water? GCPFJ3 which is yet another Wodanza cache. This time it took a long while to discover it. The hint was clear, but I searched everywhere except for that single (more obvious) place.
- HPL 2 – the garages GCKA7C is one of the few left from a whole series. I’m afraid that this and the other remaining one will be archived soon if the author doesn’t do some maintenance.
On my way back I saw this interesting road sign. I immediately thought about this GC.com forum thread HeadHardHat initiated. I took a picture and posted it in the thread. This sign is in the middle of the city of Leuven near the Dijle.
