Confirmed sources
My geoaching WE started Friday rather scary. I wanted to tackle Missiehuis GC1MFX8, yet another fine cache from Freggie. But when I arrived at the location a barn owl flow from the bushes just over my head. I was in a tizzy for a while preventing me to concentrate on the cache. It wasn’t until I was looking at my GPSr that I noticed that I was looking at the wrong place. Luckily I could discover the stash shortly after that.
My geoacaching Saturday started when I dropped the son at a playfellow. After that I could start hiding a new cache of mine: Sterreborne GC1MNVT. I seem to have a soft spot for chapels, since it’s located at a well near a chapel. The legend goes as follows: “Hundreds of years ago, there was a dark forest without roads between Leuven and Tienen. One day, two countesses were astray with their coach and ended up in a place called Herint, not far from Boutersem. Plagued by an unbearable thirst and nothing at hand, they sent a supplication to the Mother of Mercy. Not without consequence. Because suddenly, amid the darkness and the dark forest, they saw a brilliant star in the sky whose light beam seemed to hit the ground.
With an odd bend, it seemed to beckon to a certain place. When the countesses arrived there, they saw an unexpected source sprang for their eyes to the earth. From the moment on, whoever drank of the water was immediately cured from any disease.” I hope people like the place as much as I do. It got published this noon and barely 15 minutes later, it got a FTF.
I continued my journey by tackling the following caches:
- Quercus Robur GC1JA5Y let me discover yet another beautiful natural environment. It also shows that the geocaching community helps each other. The author is on a mission to Kosovo for 4 months and the container was damaged. 2 other geocachers have provided a new container.
- Get out of the dungeons GC1MNVT is a mystery which I could solve for once. As mentioned previously, I have always big problems in solving them. The location has a big historical value, but people doesn’t seem to appreciate this when I look at theĀ litter.
- Mooi Meldert ! GC1BZ5V shows another beautiful scenery. A shame that this might vanish when the building permit for a piggery gets irreversible.
- The Stoned Forest GC13THV is the traditional earthcache for commemorating a milestone. Although it’s officially the 124th cache on my roll of honour, I couldn’t resist to tackle it since I was in the neighbourhood. I secretly count in my hide early today in order to let me celebrate.
