Chatterbox

Good company isn’t always that good for geocaching itself.

As said in an earlier blog, I don’t see that much fellow geocachers whilst I’m practicing this sport. Unless I meet up with the usual suspects mentioned all over my blog post, it’s a rather lonely activity. So it’s more than nice and welcome to have the opportunity to meet new people. There was this appeal in the BE forums the other day from a new geocacher called ThierryP. He recently discovered the sport and wanted to learn the tricks of the trade from a more experienced geocacher. Not that I’m that super experienced (I’ve ‘only’ found about 400 caches in my year of geocaching), but since he lives and works in the same region as I do, I didn’t see any reason why we shouldn’t meet. A couple of weeks after we mailed, we finally meet IRL in order to tackle Druiven en noten GCME2A. This one was the nearest on my to do list. The difficulty rating and the intermediate tasks much have prevented me to do this cache. That was until now.

Meanwhile, ThierryP had the chance to discover some – or better said many – other caches. His founds counter was already set to 27 in barely one month. I don’t think I ever came to that figure in my early days. It showed that he had some experience already. He discovered one tag after the other before I could even blink my eyes. On top of that, he’s a really nice person. We talked that much that we didn’t pay attention enough and forgot one of the tasks. So we needed to call some external help to find out what the solution for that one was. I look back with much pleasure to yesterday morning. This multi was yet another beauty by Allimmo, but I had also the chance to make a new friend.

Btw, I also did some other caches earlier that week. I needed to be in the most West part in Belgium for a commercial photo shoot and we finished rather early, which I hoped to be the case a bit. So I took the opportunity to look for some caches over there too. It was far from a success. Either I didn’t find them, either muggles prevented me from searching. These are the caches I did find:

I guess nextime, we’ll have to invite a third person so he/she can concentrate on the geocaching and task-solving part, and we can continue talking and talking and talking and talking …

Good idea. Maybe he/she can do all the hard work and we’ll have to write our name in the log book :-)

Sounds like fun! I prefer geocaching alone, becuase I’m rather stubborn and like to do things MY way ;-) It would be nice to have someone for the longer hikes though. Safety in numbers.

Having company for LPCs is indeed not needed, but is more than nice for long multis, events or special raids.
