Cats, Dogs and viruses
The past week, I spent a mid-week holiday at the lakes of l’Eau d’Heure.
It’s somewhat a yearly tradition that we spent the autumn holiday at a holiday park with close friends and their kids. Despite the fact that none of them are geocaching minded, I made a list of caches I could possibly tackle. I estimated that I could do 5 of them if I was lucky, certainly when the weather forecast was very bad. It ended up somewhat different. On day, we went to the dam despite the heavy rain and wind. Whilst the others were ‘enjoying’ the view, I picked up Plate Taile 1 (GCM04K). The day after, the adults of the other couple were starting to get ill and wanted to remain indoors. Since I wasn’t ill and it remained a bit dry, I took the chance to tackle a whole series of trads:
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #01 (GC1XN34)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #03 (GC1XN3D)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #04 (GC1XN3H)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #05 (GC1XN3N)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #06 (GC1XN3V)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #08 (GC1XN3Z)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #09 (GC1XN42)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #10 (GC1XN46) (=small multi)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #11 (GC1XN48)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #13 (GC1ZEGD)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #14 (GC1ZEGJ)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #15 (GC1ZEGM)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #16 (GC1ZEGR)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #17 (GC1ZEGT)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #18 (GC1ZEGV)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #19 (GC1ZEGZ)
- Circuit des chapelles et potales #20 (GC1ZEH1)
I didn’t realize that there could be so many chapels in such a small area in the Walloon part of Belgium. I always thought it was a typical Flemish phenomena. Anyway, I got a series of 17 caches which is again equal to my day record of Feb 2nd, but then found in half a day. 17 seems to be a kind of psychological barrier which I can’t put up (yet).
The next day, another victim went ill, but we went swimming with the rest of the ill free people and the idea that we could do some mini-golf afterwards. The pouring rain decided otherwise, so I headed to FEHU at le “BEAUCHATEAU” (GC1978D), which is a very nice cache on top of a rock. Unless you’re a mountaineer with special gear, the rock was can’t be seized in a normal way. Luckily, the owner described an alternative route with less risks. The rain made things very slippery, so I to mind my steps. Add some fear of heights and you’ll guess I was rather happy when I achieved this one.
The last day of our stay, I could convince the whole bunch to tackle Le chant d’Eole (GC1YB90). Despite the cold wind, one wasn’t complaining about this new short multi. We all went happy and satisfied home. That included the friends, albeit I heard yesterday that the whole family is ill now.
