Braintwister

I created yesterday yet another mystery cache. Unlike previous mystery caches, this promises to be a real braintwister.

My previous mystery caches have always some kind of twist in them and are as such really easy to solve when you find the twist. This time, there is no twist at all, but – as always – all info you need is available on the cache page itself. It’s up to potential logger to retrieve the info in a correct way. And I won’t give any details to anybody unless one gives me their reasoning, which I’ll adjust if needed, under the condition it’s no guessing. Do you feel lucky, have a look at Eerste wandelaars.

I did some caching myself too. First I started with Gänsehals by Jocky (GC7CE5), a virtual as (late) celebration of my 500th find. Last Saturday, I had the honour to cache together with DonderVolgel, which is a ‘newby’. It is always nice to meet (new) people and exchange some experiences. So we tackled de Commune by pépécoke (GC18P2B), which was the nearest multi on our todo list for both of us. And it happened again: we were busy talking and I didn’t focus on the cache itself. That resulted in applying the wrong formula on a WP and looking for something at the wrong WP. I must say that I’ve been looking like a fool sometimes. And if that wasn’t enough it started to rain too (and it was cold enough already) and we happen to interpret some number incorrectly. Luckily, I could rely on some external memory that showed us the way to the cache. It was a nice gathering anyway, despite these slight mishaps. Btw I was using Geoscout during this multi, which is handy to calculate formulas. Since DonderVogel is using an iPhone, he wondered if something similar existed for this OS since the official gc.com app doesn’t provide the same features. Well, I guess that Geocaching Buddy comes close or is even better.

Today, I found Brown Boveri by SAILtm (GC229VJ). Since I work close by, I couldn’t resist to tackle it during lunch break. I found it easily, but I was amazed – again, since all their caches are like this – how well the cache integrated with its environment. Well done indeed. I was apparently in such a hurry to leave the crime scene – in order to prevent muggles – that I’ve missed an encounter with Dani+Iris, which is a pity.
