Birthday Parties

Yesterday I dropped my kids at a birthday party nearby a cache. Needless to say that there isn’t a better way spending the 3 hours I had than attacking “DIEST – de andere kant” GC1FQG8, which is a multi cache. The only spoiler was the weather. Such drizzle always makes me very wet and in this case also the stage description and the paper where I needed to do my calculations on. My cheat sheet with all type of conversion code was luckily wrapped in plastic. I needed it a lot this time for the typical alphabet to digit conversions. As mentioned in an earlier blog, I know this little city relatively good, but this cache made me discover details I wouldn’t notice without the caching. After a couple of hours, I arrived at the end point. I saw the hint immediately but the GPSr said it was a bit further, probably due deviation or miscalculation from my side. After some walking back and forth, I decided to attack the hint anyway and discovered the stash rather quickly. I guess I’m still trusting the GPSr more than my senses, which probably due to my computer background.

Today was a cache less day since I’ve invited – as a yearly tradition – my friends for my birthday. Usually I put myself out cookery wise, but – since it was teppanyaki  this time – I had only work with the appetizers and the desert as described in this blog. Anyway, it wasn’t a absolute cache less day after all. I’ve seen that the new coordinates of my hotel are approved and that this I’ve activated it again. On top, two people have logged my mystery cache and like it the end result despite some difficulties in solving the puzzle. But mysteries shouldn’t be that easy, should they?
