Doing the tour

My son needed to be at a playfellow this afternoon and it was thus an ideal moment to making a little tour. Again, the girls weren’t very keen to join me in de the cold, so I was on my own. I decided to map a route which I could do within the 3 hours I had available. Read more…

Channel rat

It’s official: a Palm Z22 sucks when it comes to complete paperless caching. It’s ok for what cachemate covers, but when it comes to paperless spoilers, it’s pretty useless. I was doing the “De andere Bron” GCK1HD multicache and everything went smoothly on this nice walk. That was until it was time to discover the stash itself. I had a bit of deviation in the wood and thus I needed to rely on the spoiler. As you can see below, there a lot of trees on the picture. Read more…

Big spoiler

It’s official: spoilers on a Z22 sucks. It might work for small pics without much details, but larger photos where details matter are useless on this device. The result is that I was yesterday at the final stage of this beautiful multi and I stood there completely clueless. The wood made the pointer showing everywhere and all I remembered from the spoiler on line was that it was near a tree. But in a wood… I have to try my luck a next time. Read more…

Late Sunrise

It has been a week full of pottering around. As mentioned in a previous blog, I started with paperless caching. I finally got used of this (somewhat tedious, compared to simply printing out stuff) way of working, so I though it would be time to do put the spoiler pics on my Z22 too.

The Big Freeze

This continuation of freezing temperatures and snow is not my cup of tea. The temperatures didn’t exceed freezing point for more than 15 days now. Maybe I wasn’t that weather conscious before, but I can’t remember that it has been so cold for quite a long time now. It’s about time that this comes to an end and more reasonable temperatures are in place.

Repentance and a prayer

Everything seems to turn out well geocaching wise. The time that I need in order to find is getting shorter and shorter. Only special ones like “Foute vrucht of…foute boom ? #3″ GC17524 needed some extra info from the author. It is a difficult one where a micro is cleverly hidden in a wood, with a lot of DNFs as result. That’s the nice thing about geocaching. At one side you’ve caches like this and at the other side you’ve caches like “Rondje Tielt-Winge – 2 : Kabouterbos” GC15DFH which are very child friendly or give you beautiful sights like “Holle Wegen 2″ GC19Q2D or “Het molentje” GCGAZC with a very original container. The region where I live gives you a lot of variations due to the diverse landscape. Read more…

Starting peacefully

After the past festivities, it’s time to get back to business. That is off course geocaching business. On my last X-mas vacation day, I needed to drop off the music keyboard my son borrowed from a friend/colleague of mine. As always, I try to combine this with some stash hunting. Nobody else of the family wanted to join me, so I’ve put 8 caches on list. It’s kind of a loop that I made on the south of the Belgian province of Limburg, which is a very nice region. Today was rather peaceful: I encountered only one muggle. These are 8 cashes I’ve found in 2 hours time, which I think is rather fast. Maybe it’s because 6 of them make part of the “Rondje Zuid Limburg”, a 10 cache tour around the most beautiful spots in that region and thus no work for me to find out what the best way to combine was.
